The following applet describes a two-component mixture in the presence of a semipermeable membrane. The green molecules pass freely across the center wall, while the red ones are restricted to the region to the right of the membrane. The average pressure on the outside wall of each chamber is presented in the table. The difference between these two pressure is known as the osmotic pressure.
